    •    Jason Matlock is a doctoral candidate at Michigan State University, working in the Organic Pest Management Laboratory under the Department of Entomology. He holds a Master’s Degree in Horticulture from Michigan State University, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Alma College.  Mr. Matlock has expert-level knowledge of agricultural management practices, agroecology, pesticide toxicology, and statistical analysis. Prior to graduate studies, he worked in the craft beer and wine industry as a brewer and cellar man. His experience in craft-brewing is directly transferable to commercial cannabis production given it is a stringently regulated, licensed, and process-oriented industry. Furthermore, Mr.  Matlock has participated in Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Program as a caregiver since 2010.

 

    •    Jesse Rose has ten years of experience in the cannabis industry, managing operations and establishing a future oriented approach to production. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grand Valley State University with a specialty in Entrepreneurial Agriculture. In addition, he has experience in community cooperatives and certified organic vegetable farming operations.  Mr. Rose has mastered all aspects of Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Program from cultivation and product development to risk management and regulatory compliance.  He also specializes in curating a unique catalog of heirloom varieties of cannabis and establishing a connoisseur approach to product development.  Mr. Rose has led successful municipal lobbying efforts in Michigan, securing zoning approval for all five MMFLA licenses. 

    •    John Powers was educated at New College: The Honors College of Florida and graduated with a B.A. in English Literature from Wayne State University. Mr. Powers has a decade of cannabis cultivation experience from indoor personal scale operations to industrial warehouse applications, including outdoor cultivation in Michigan and Northern California.  Mr. Powers’ corporate background includes an executive advisory position to the CEO at an international pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and agricultural holding company overseeing up to 50 subsidiaries. He was recruited as a consultant initially to provide cannabis industry knowledge and resources yet was hired permanently to directly interface with major corporations and academic institutions.  Mr. Powers has extensive experience working in politics editing legislation with lobbyists and representatives, as well as in negotiations and brokering deals, managing projects and hiring labor, doing market research and guiding product development worldwide.
